Home: The Taste of East Asia
Editorial, Personal
For an international student far from home, food became a soft landing point. Home: The Taste of East Asia (家:東亞之味) is a risograph poster series that explores what "home" means through East Asian food culture, tracing flavours shared across Taiwan, Japan, and Korea. Four subjects carry the story: tamagoyaki, tteokbokki, bubble milk tea, and a unifying theme poster that ties them all together.

The visual language borrows from East Asian traditional markets, particularly the fruit and vegetable crates found across Taiwan. Oversized sans-serif type, flat colour blocks, and overlapping bilingual or trilingual text echo that everyday packaging: loud, a little chaotic, but unmistakably alive.
Each poster's palette carries as much cultural weight as visual punch: red and teal for the theme poster, yellow, pink, and orange for tamagoyaki, red, purple, and dark red for tteokbokki, gold, federal blue, and black for the milk tea. Every overprint layer went down only once the last one had fully dried, keeping the registration clean and the colours true.
Printed slightly grainy, occasionally misaligned, the posters carry a texture close to memory itself, imperfect, a little worn, still warm. Design, here, became a bridge between something deeply personal and something shared far beyond it.
